October 21-25
This week we are studying one of my favourite Dr Seuss books, the Lorax. We worked on retelling the events of the story and are answering questions about the book.
In Reading, we are practicing the skill of Visualizing as we listen to our Flat Stanley adventures. Visualizing, or making pictures in our minds, will help us connect, remember and better understand the texts we read.
In Writing, we are writing our own Flat Stanley Halloween stories. Students are adding their own problems and solutions to a story beginning and are illustrating the story. We are looking forward to sharing our stories with each other.
In Math, we are studying linear measurement. We are learning to choose the proper measuring tool or unit when measuring the length, height or width of objects. Please use ixl.com grade 2 math, section R for practice questions at home.
Thank you to all those who have already signed up for the Dr Seuss trip. The school is going paperless with permission forms and so you will find this information in your email. Contact me if you do not see it.
Next week's assembly is Oct 30th at 9:30. Please note the change in time.
Orange, black and purple day is Oct 31st.
